Awet’s Journey of Determination and Success
Coming from Eritrea, Awet left a country marked by dictatorship and violence. Alone and at great personal risk, she fled and eventually reached Luxembourg after a long and difficult journey. For several years, she lived in different refugee shelters. Step by step, she began to shape her future, dedicating herself to learning new languages and building her path forward.
Two years ago, at the age of 27, she joined Youth & Work. Her strong motivation led to her admission into the Future Generation program, where she had her first direct contact with companies in Luxembourg. She then made the decision to study. Despite the challenges of getting her documents recognized, she never considered giving up. She was admitted to the University of Luxembourg and started her studies in computer science.
Even without any privacy in the refugee homes, she found spaces where she could focus on her learning. Today, she has successfully completed her second year of studies with excellent results, a testament to her perseverance and dedication.
